21 Day Challenge

Day before yesterday our dear Prime Minister of India announced a 21 Day lockdown of the country. Everybody is at home except some chosen few. If you are not one of these chosen few, I am sure what I am writing will be more relevant to you on this day.

Today you might have laughed on jokes that are being circulated on WhatsApp. You might have tried your best to make sure that your neighbour is not able to see the type of grocery items you were able to bring home. You might have started passing your time with binge watching videos on Netflix etc. At its worst, you are now fed up of constant existence of the family members around you and quarrels have started. We in India are still some days behind the world when it comes to the imposed stay at home conditions. The negative things which I mentioned are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the worst condition of the people who have to live behind the closed door for prolonged periods. Currently there are reports from other countries, about people going into panic mode, deep depression, increase in domestic violence, and many such things.

I am sure many of negativities in life arise out of lack of creative and productive pursuits. I have seen enough of how an entire population in some villages of Western Vidarbha can remain in loathing situations when your single crop is harvested and there is nothing you think you can do around. In early morning hours you can come across several groups of people, at every street crossing, passing their time in discussing their doom. Even if you go to them with full positivity, the situation can drain all that off easily and you can be left feeling that nothing can be done about it and that doomsday is better than the present.

I have been writing on various subjects and sharing the same for wider readership. This writing instinct has been purely based on necessity of dealing either with the mood or with the situation. I wrote periodically, when I was in Ghana in 2010-11. It was with the purpose of recording my exotic experiences and sharing it with relatives and friends back home. This is the second time I am writing on the ground of necessity. Writing is one creative pursuit. It requires skill to think, find correct words and put them down on paper. These upcoming 21 Days, starting from today I have decided to put this skill to use and doing my bit of building and spreading positivity.

The writing will be on diverse subjects. I shall write one article a day each in English and Marathi. While English ones will reach out to readers of multiple cultures, Marathi will be mainly relevant to people from Maharashtra so there could be some difference in them. So folks, from today onwards, in all 42 articles are due to come out of my head and spread on the network. Each article won’t exceed limit of 600 words and if you are reading every word of it you should be able to finish a one within 5 minutes. Do share them further. Let me know your comments and also convey me what would you like to read. I may or may not be able to respond to them individually but will read each of them for sure.

Happy reading!
